Clan Wars Serial Draft by Legbiter Now we have started a new league, with a new format. Session 1. Each player buys a random starter and 5 random boosters. For our league this was heavily subsidised but this is not a requirement. Then the boosters are drafted across the whole group [or subgroup if the group is very large]. So you end up with a starter and 55 extra cards. Now you build the best deck you can with what you got. Session 2. You play. You play for ante. At the end of the game, anyone who got VPs gets first choice on drafting a new [in our case, Gehenna] booster, bought with the entry money. Such players draft as many cards as they got VP. For example, in last night's games Anklebiter's Tremere swept a 4-player, so he drafted 4 cards. Steve Read [Tzimisce] and i [Malkavian] drew 2-2 on the other table, so having randomly decided who would draft first Steve and i took it in turns to draft two cards each. Once those who got VP have finished drafting, all the other players draft the rest of the booster till it is exhausted. You take your deck home and fiddle with it a bit, perhaps using some of the new cards you got, and then you come back next week. This format is a LOT of fun, and we had a terrific pair of games last night. Playing for ante is a jolly good idea in my opinion, since it gives a certain edge to the game - also, if you are staking something tangible, you won't make any silly deals. And because of the drafting-prize format, people do not ever leave with fewer cards than they arrived with, and the decks change week-by-week. i did not mention, because it was obvious, that everyone has given their word as an English Gentleperson not to use any outside cards in their deckbuilding.
